El Consejo Nacional del Ambiente viene trabajando en Piura, Huancayo y Lima, una campaña para llamar la atención acerca de las consecuencias del calentamiento global en nuestro país. Se trata de un proyecto piloto en el que venimos participando en el diseño de campañas y piezas de comunicación que pronto afectarán la cotidianidad de las personas que viven en estas localidades.

¿Cómo traducir un concepto tan etéreo y lejano como el cambio climático mundial a un lenguaje que conmueva a la gente común? El camino fue buscar los productos más representativos de cada región piurana para que la campaña se aventurara a preguntar sobre las posibles consecuencias de un cambio climático. Por ejemplo, si en el medio Piura el chifle de plátano es elemento de identidad, las piezas de esa localidad tenían una pregunta inquietante (¿Y si dejara de haber chifle?), cerrando con un llamado a informarse sobre el cambio climático.

Quizá más importante que la creación de la campaña fue el método de investigación: Toronja viajó a Chulucanas, Piura ciudad y Sechura para hacer talleres con líderes de organizaciones de base y representantes de medios y municipios. La idea era recabar creencias locales sobre el tema y sobre los productos oriundos que más orgullo provocaban.

Lo excitante ocurrió cuando se les pidió que nos ayudaran a hacer la campaña como creativos y planificadores de medios: jugaron, aportaron y nos dieron insumos valiosos sobre la idiosincrasia local. Y lo más importante: sintieron que la campaña que se iba a lanzar era en parte suya y, como representantes populares, fueron los primeros en apoyar su divulgación en las calles y medios.

De manera extraoficial, CONAM ha manifestado que la campaña de Piura ha tenido un éxito que rebasó totalmente las expectativas. Estamos a la espera de los datos oficiales.
