Sociologist. Communicator. He has worked as a consultant for the most important non-governmental organizations of the country, particularly in democracy and citizenship issues. He has also developed projects for public institutions. While coordinating projects at the NGO Servicios Educativos Rurales (Rural Educational Services), he traveled around the country working with peasant organizations and training leaders in favor of social and personal change.

He is a visual artist. Along with Natalia Iguiñiz, he belongs to the art collective Laperrera. He has participated in Lima’s biennial art exhibits, as well as in exhibitions in Madrid and France. As an art critic, he has written articles for events and publications of the main Peruvian photographers in Lima, Mexico and Buenos Aires.

Columnist for the newspaper Peru 21. Collaborates (or has collaborated) with political magazines (Cuestion de Estado, Quehacer, among others), education journals (Tarea, Autoeducacion, Foro Educativo, etc.) and newspapers (El Comercio). He published “Contrajuventud” (Instituto de Estudios Peruanos, 2001), essays about youth and political participation. He has been coauthor of several books, including “Normal No Mas” (“Just Normal”) (IDS – Cedhip – Cidap, 1991), “La Aventura Mariategui” (“The Mariategui Adventure”) (PUCP, 1995), “Educacion y Ciudadania” (“Education and Citizenship”) (Tarea, 1997), “¿Nacidos para ser Salvajes?” (“Born to be savages?”) (Sur-Ceapas, 1998), among others.

As Head of Projects at Red Cientifica Peruana, he implemented telecommunication projects for development. He directed the commission for the creation of “The Peruvian Academic Network” under the directive of the Presidency of CONCYTEC -National Science and Technology Council. He has been Professor of the course “Sociology of Communication” at the Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas. Currently, he teaches “Citizenship and Social Responsibility” at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP).

He has edited numerous academic and educational publications, and has been in charge of the creative direction for television, radio, web and all print media. He studied documentary video in Colombia; drama with the Telba group; photography at Kodak, and some contemporary dance at Pata de Cabra School. He has militated (and still militates) in street action. At the end of the 90’s, he produced with Hugo Martinez rock festivals that made history, including Niño Malo, Nacion Mezcla and Inrockuptibles. He is member of InnovAccion Grupo para el Diseño y Transformacion Institucional (Group for Institutional Design and Transformation), Foro Educativo (Educational Forum), the collective Mataperro Calle y Cultura and the environmentalist association Jatosisa. He is also president of his building’s Condominium Association. He rides bicycle, cooks and collects music.
